Dr. Christian García-Sepúlveda

Christian holds a medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Coahuila. He studied his PhD at the Anthony Nolan Research Institute, Royal Free Hospital and University College London. He has developed molecular tools for the study of HLA-DR, MICA/B and KIR genes and worked towards developing molecular methods for work with blood-borne viral pathogens such as Hepatitis B and C virus (HBV, HCV) and Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). He is currently involved in the assessment of the regional burden posed by arthropod, bat-borne and rodent-borne exotic viral pathogens (ZIKV, CHIKV, DENV, RABV, Hantavirus, Arenavirus and Coronavirus). He is currently princpal investigator at the Viral & Human Genomics Lab at UASLP's School of Medicine.

Dr. Sandra E. Guerra Palomares

Sandra holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the Universidad Autonoma de San Luis Potosí (UASLP) Chemical Sciences School. Her work on Blood-borne pathogen genomics, molecular epidemiology and molecular methods earned her an MSc on Basic Biomedical Sciences from the Universidad Autonoma de San Luis Potosí, Faculty of Medicine. Her PhD project focused on characterising the genomic diversity and functional relevance of HIV Vif accessory protein as well as in the study of Hepatitis B virus (HBV) genetic diversity. She is currently an associate researcher at the Viral & Human Genomics Lab at UASLP's School of Medicine.
