LGVH Biorepository Catalogue

Throughout the past years, LGVH research proyects have allowed us to compile several collections of biological specimens from both healthy individuals and those affected by specific diseases. These specimens include genomic and mitochondrial DNA's, blood serum, peripheral-blood mononuclear cells and in some cases RNA and B-Lymphoblastoid cell-lines. In the case of viral diseases, viable replication competent viral particles might also be available. All samples are provided with associated ethnographic, demographic and clinical information where available. All of the biological specimens mentioned herein have been anonymized in order to protect donor confidentiality, as such, donor tracking is not possible. All samples were obtained following our local institution's Ethics Review Board Guidelines.

Samples are distributed free-of charge to researchers involved in the study of human immune gene polymorphism, diversity and clinical or biological relevance. Other genetic systems will also be considered as long as the proposing researcher provides and executive summary of the project for proper ethics clearence (and only for some collections for which informed consent can be readily obtained). Preference will be given to Mexican nationals and to those seeking to address national healthy priorities or diseases of national epidemiological relevance. Researchers for whom approval of biospecimen use is granted are only asked to include information on the source of the collection in either the "Materials & Methods" or "Acknowledgments" sections of the corresponding publication. In addition, all information derived from genetic testing, profiling or characterisation of these specimens should be made available for inclusion in this database. Researchers interested in obtaining aliquots of these samples for research use should contact us via eMail (lgvh.uaslp@gmail.com).

Mexican Genomic DNA Collection - Mestizo Reference Set v5.0

Includes information on Killer-cell Immunoglobulin-like Receptor gene and haplotype frequencies in 300 Mexican mestizo healthy blood-bank donors. Also includes HLA-Bw4 and Bw6 typings, KIR3D and HLA-B constellations, CCR5 Delta 32 mutation profiling, limited demographic and clinical information.

Mexican Genomic DNA Collection - TNK Amerindian Reference Set v2.0

Includes demographic information and biospecimen availability of 89 Mexican Tenek amerindian samples derived from mostly female healthy blood-bank donors of the state of San Luis Potosí.

Mexican Genomic DNA Collection - HIV-Infected Reference Set v5.0

Includes information on Killer-cell Immunoglobulin-like Receptor gene and haplotype frequencies as well as HLA and CCR5 profile of 582 Mexican mestizo HIV-Infected individuals. Also includes HLA-Bw4 and Bw6 typings, KIR3D and HLA-B constellations, CCR5 Delta 32 mutation profiling and extensive clinical and epidemiological data.

B95-8 Cotton-Top Tamarin (Saguinus oedipus) Cell-Line

The B95-8 cell line is derived from cotton-top tamarin (Saguinus oedipus) lymphocytes, a new world (Colbian) monkey also known as bichichi or tití. The B95-8 cell line is commonly used in the field of virology and immunology as a continuous source of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), also known as human herpesvirus 4 (HHV-4), to transform human and primate B cells into immortalized B-lymphoblastoid cell lines (BLCL’s) as a means to preserve genomic DNA traits of interest as well as to study EBV life cycle, immune responses to EBV and its associations with infectious mononucleosis, Burkitt’s lymphoma and nasopharyngeal carcinoma (Miller et al, PNAS, 1972).

Mexican B-Lymphoblastoid Cell-Line Collection - v1.0

Novel initiative towards generating Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) transformed B-Lymphoblastoid Cell Lines (BLCLs) from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) for reference individuals. Includes limited information on KIR, HLA, CCR5 and other genetic systems as well as microphotographs of transfoermed cells.

Mexican Mononuclear Cell Collection - v1.0

Compilation of peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) isolates, to include those composing the Mexican mestizo reference population, Mexican HIV-infected patients and the Mexican Amerindian (Teneek) population.

Mexican Viral Isolate Collection - v1.0

Compilation of viral isolates, to include viral RNA and DNA from peripheral blood plasma as well as viable replication-competent viral particles for HIV, HTLV and other viruses present in PBMCs.
